FBI Case Files

Washington Snipers
October 2nd 2002 5:20 pm Washington D.C.
For 23 Days in October, 2002 unknown snipers terrorized Washington D.C. and the surrounding area. When I first spoke to the FBI regarding this situation I told them there would be 13 victims before it was over. That was on the second day... The horror unfolded and I counted the victims one by one. It was by far the most stressful case I have ever worked on as the death toll climbed and I couldn't pin point a future shooting scene. What fascinated me was how easy the sniper's intentions were to read. I knew WHAT they were planning to do, I just didn't always know where.
I told an FBI agent that there were two men, one older, one younger. The older being the "mastermind". I felt they were poor and lived together. I saw dark skin, but thought they were of Eastern descent and Muslim. I was quite puzzled by the knowledge of metaphysics but knew it was there, nonetheless. I knew they were being as random as possible and that no pattern would be established. I stated that the snipers set their scope and waited for a victim to move into it.
As time moved on, I knew (as did everyone) that the snipers were reacting to the news media. I cried the night Charles Moose stated that they would not close the schools. I knew a child would be gunned down. I also knew that there was a master plan and police would eventually be shot if these men were not stopped.
I knew Law Enforcement personnel were vulnerable when working the crime scenes because the snipers were watching them and they were the ultimate targets. Lee Malvo eluded all this to after his arrest. Another heartbreaking day was when the FBI employee was gunned down outside Home Depot. I insisted that the next "incident" would happen near a Michael's store 41. I didn't know if the stores were numbered by franchise or what that meant. This Home Depot was indeed near a Michaels. The zip code was 20041... the only Michaels in that zip code.
