Pam's Monthly Insights
September 2006
Hello friends,
Thanks to you for your continued support and positive feedback. I know some of you did go out and get The Secret. I'd love your feedback on this movie that is sweeping across the globe.
If August was a bit sluggish for you, September will be quite the opposite. Expect sudden twists and turns. For this reason, I'm going to reprint my article on eclipses, as we have two of them this month. For more insight you might want to check out Susan Miller's www.astrologyzone.com to see how they might affect you personally. Never fear ... change is good, even when it doesn't feel good at first.
With this is mind, I've also written an article about resistance, fear and mistrust and how they can get in the way of reaching our dreams and receiving the things we wish for. The mind body connection is a fascinating study for me and I have long admired the work of Louise Hay in this area. This month I will be recommending her book but also exploring the subject with you here. Your body will tell you where your thoughts need healing.
For those who missed the pilot of Sensing Murder, it's set to air again on Saturday, Sept 2nd (4:00 p.m. Pacific Time) and again on Sept 15th (1:00 p.m. Pacific Time) on the Discovery Channel. The series will begin in earnest on September 28th with a brand new episode. I'm also looking for a catchy title for my book. Once again, I've decided to let you have a crack at it ... if your title is chosen you get a free reading. See Media below for details.

Quote of the month
James Belasco and Ralph Stayer, Flight of the Buffalo (1994)
Change is hard because people overestimate the value of what they have-and underestimate the value of what they may gain by giving that up.

Easy Does It- Here Come the Eclipses
As I mentioned in the intro, September 7th brings an eclipse in the sign of Pisces and the 22nd another in the sign of Virgo. The first may bring a surprise ending and the second a new beginning. No matter what your personal beliefs about astrology, you are still bound to feel this one. Eclipses equal change, in the manner of a flipped page, a tale's dangling question brought to conclusion, dazzling twists and turns, jarring introductions or recurrences, a goodbye and a hello in the same sentence, the program switching backdrops or inducting long-lost cousins or other characters who promise to provide freshness to the same worn-out premise, and bam!l life is different.
Eclipses shake up the status quo. I find them exhilarating and yet treat them with respect, much the way I respect the powerful ocean. I love forward movement and eclipses always provide just that. The tricky part is the change that comes with an eclipse usually has long-term effects, so try to watch your knee-jerk reactions in light of any new information or characters you meet early this month. This is not a good time for ultimatums if you cherish a relationship and yet it can shake you out of an unproductive one.
Eclipses move us along our path and in general are good for falling in love, or out of it. Eclipses can also bring new homes, new jobs, new babies, new pets, new friends etc. so watch who or what walks into your life now as they are likely to stick around for a while or become more significant than you now realize.
The best approach is to relax, ride the wave and watch with wonder as things unfold. It may feel like a jolt and not always pleasant, but it will be progress. To learn more about how the eclipse will affect you personally, check out Susan Miller's fantastic website - www.astrologyzone.com.

No Thank You
Forgive me for paraphrasing this well known tale ... I love the story of the woman stranded on top of her house as flood waters are raising. "God, help me" she pleads. "Please save me." Soon a boat paddles by and the men tell her to climb into their boat to safety. "No, she protests. I'm waiting for God to save me." Next a helicopter flies overhead, dropping a rope ladder down to the terrified woman. "Grab the rope, miss and climb to safety" the rescuer yells to her. "No" she refuses. "I'm waiting for God to save me." The waters sweep her away and she drowns. When she gets to heaven, she asks God. "God, why didn't you save me? I prayed and I trusted in you. I put all of my faith in you God." God looks at her and says "I sent a boat and then a helicopter and you refused to get in."
How many boats and helicopters have shown up in your life that you rejected because they didn't match your ideal? I see it very often in my life coaching practice. A man will tell me he is ready to settle down and find a "serious" relationship. He tells me that he is considering moving out of the state because there are "no opportunities" where he lives. I question him further and find that he has dated many women and has no problem meeting them at all. Turns out, he disqualifies them with record speed. It's not the women, of course, it's him. He's got intimacy issues and isn't ready to become close and vulnerable with any woman. God sent some great women his way ... he just couldn't see them. I've seen many women carefully make a list of the qualities they desire in a man. When they meet him, they say "that can't be Mr. Right because he doesn't fit my usual type," even though he has every quality they were seeking.
Another area of confusion is often money. I can't even count how many times a client will be asking for more money in their life and then turn it down when it's presented to them. I used to suffer from this. Someone would want to give me a gift and I would politely refuse. "No, that's so sweet of you, but no." I would back away. I wanted the money to come in a way I deemed reasonable. Not only did I keep the money out of my life, I robbed the other person of the opportunity to give.
When we decide something has to come to us in just a certain way, we close ourselves off to the miracles that appear in our lives. God is creative and may have a bigger and better plan than you do. So every time you start to automatically say "No, thank you" stop and reflect a little further about the gift He may have just sent you.

What is your Body trying to Say?
It's not exactly front page news that the body and mind are interconnected. Heal the mind, heal the body. We've all heard it, but do you really know what your body is trying to say or what you are saying to your body? The most astonishingly accurate work I have seen is by Ms. Louise L. Hay. When someone gets any ache or pain in my house we run for her book to discover the source of our discomfort. I'm never short of amazed as the truth reaches out and grabs me round the throat. Before I reveal some of the most common ailments I'd like to mention the things that you say and how they can cause physical symptoms.
Ever catch yourself saying "I just can't stand this or that". Use it enough and you might find yourself with a broken leg or knee problems. I've actually seen a case like that. Speak harshly and critically frequently? My ex-mother-in-law did this and ended up with tongue cancer. She never smoked a cigarette in her life. How about "I'm so sick and tired of such and such?" You'll make yourself sick and tired. I used to joke to my basketball team about "giving me a heart attack" during very close games until I developed high blood pressure. You can bet I stopped saying that! Another favorite of mine was "please stop, you've giving me a headache." Guess who had frequent headaches? So, watch what you say, your body is listening.
Most of you don't know that three years ago I fell on the tennis court and broke my foot in three places. I was misdiagnosed with a severely torn tendon (which I had as well) and went into physical therapy for several weeks on a broken foot. Needless to say it was a long drawn out ordeal and I was on crutches for something like eight months. It took me months of physical therapy to learn to walk again. So what was going on there? A foot injury often indicates a fear of moving forward in life. At the time, I was being courted for a tv series and was apprehensive about "stepping" into the spotlight. How would it affect my family? What would the neighbors think? Would I lose my privacy, my friends? When I finally came to terms with my fears, my foot began to heal and I was able to move forward ... literally.
So here are a few common ailments and what they are telling you. See below for details on Ms. Hay's "must have" book if this rings true for you.
Headaches. Invalidating self. Self-criticism
Baldness. Fear. Tension. Not trusting the process of life.
Sinus problems. Irritation to one person, someone close.
Sore Throat. Inability to speak up for yourself. Swallowed anger.
Shoulders. Making life a burden by our attitude. Joyless.
Back. Represents the support we have, give in life.
Heart. Represents love and security. Hardening of the heart, lack of joy, believing life is stressful.

Media
Sensing Murder.
As you know, I am working on a book about my experiences and growth in the challenging field of psychic detective work. The book will chronicle my tentative beginnings and take a hard look at the "system". I'm seeking an interesting title. My readers have been pretty clever in the past, so I've decided to ask for your help again. Any suggestions are appreciated and if yours is chosen, you receive a free reading and a special nod in the book!
