Pam's Monthly Insights
April 2006
Hello friends,
Welcome to my newest subscribers. I see you all survived March, which gave a whole new meaning to March Madness J Thanks to all of you who participated in the remote viewing exercise. That was fun. See below for the results.
April is a busy month for me, as well as my birthday month. I will have a short appearance on Discovery Channel's Everything You Need to Know About Ghosts & Supernatural, April 5, 22nd and 27th. After reading the show description I'm a little concerned. Hope it turns out well. I am excited that you are also going to get a sneak preview of the Sensing Murder pilot we filmed back in January. Check your local listing but for now it's scheduled for the 21st. I hope you all tune in because the higher the viewership the more episodes Discovery will order. I would also appreciate your feedback.

Getting a Good Psychic Reading
More and more people are turning to psychics during times of confusion or for help in finding the right direction or spiritual guidance. Men and women, young and old and widely different backgrounds are all turning to psychics. Just as all of you are different, each psychic works differently. Here are some things to watch for and watch out for.
I always suggest you find a psychic by word of mouth. Happy clients means the psychic is doing something right. Just as you wouldn't want to pick a dentist out of a phone book, you don't want to chose a psychic that way either. Before any reading there should be an understanding of what you expect from the experience. I often ask a client "what are you wanting and needing from our time together?" to make sure expectations are realistic and everyone is on the same page.
I have found that some psychic readers are so general and vague I leave with more questions than I came with. If I want to know about my career, I don't appreciate being told about the color of my aura or that I am from the Pliates. If you are looking for a reading about your spirit guides and past lives then you will be more comfortable with a psychic who works in that more ethereal area. If you want more concrete answers then chose a more grounded psychic.
In my own readings I have found that the more specific the question the more specific the answer. So don't be afraid to give some background information to put the question in context. Many people are afraid to tell me anything for fear that I'm not really a psychic. This is a common and exhausting misconception. Trying to carry on a conversation with someone who doesn't want to give you any clues is, well... I will usually stop the reading and refund your money.
If you are skeptical and need the psychic to tell you about your past before you can take their advice about your present and future, you might want to rethink getting a reading at all. Testing is insulting to the reader and a waste of time if you are paying by the hour. Check the person's references BEFORE you schedule a reading then you won't need to "test" them and can let them focus on your present and future. Once again, word of mouth is the best way to find a good psychic.
Expectations must be reasonable too. Psychics do not know all and have every answer, not even the best. Some intuitives connect better with some people than others...sort of a chemistry or personality thing. Realize that timing is difficult for any psychic to predict accurately. Also realize that the future is not set in concrete and the psychic is only seeing probabilities and possibilities. A positive, accepting attitude is important for a good reading as it let's the psychic drop their defenses and put all of their energy into receiving the messages. Being open to truth, no matter how painful that might be, is important. I don't tell people what they want to hear so they will be happy with me. I tell them the truth so that they can make the best decisions for themselves and create a better future. Most people also have no idea how draining psychic work is. I prefer to do only one reading per day because it is so exhausting.
What about those frauds and how do I spot one, you ask? First, I advise you to stay away from 1-900 numbers. I also advise that you stay away from anyone who says you have a spell cast upon you and offers to remove it for a fee. What if they use Tarot cards? I have so much to say on this subject that I will have to write a whole article on it next month. The short answer is that does not indicate a fraud. Steer clear of anyone who sees nothing but negative... yikes. You should always leave feeling inspired and hopeful.

Remote Viewing Exercise
Okay for all of those who gave it a whirl. Here is the flag. Your comments are welcome. If you didn't get it right, not to worry. This sort of thing takes practice. A few of you did get blue, green or "turquoise" which is great. Our winner is Gail Criger who said turquoise and slivers of white. She also thought she saw a bear... let's hope it was a black bear laying down J Just kidding Gail. You did great and you get a quickie reading for your effort.

What is your intuitive style?
While I was interviewing with CBS I realized that words like "medium" and "clairvoyant" are used by the media interchangeably. All of these words have specific meaning and can help you understand your own intuitive process.
A medium is a person who communicates with spirits that have crossed over. Good mediums can receive messages from spirits to pass on to their friends and family to let them know that their soul lives on.
Clairvoyant is a person who receives psychic impressions in a visual manner. I am a strong clairvoyant as I tend to "see" images, short scenes, faces and places in my mind.
Clairaudient is a person who hears words or sounds intuitively.
Intuitive is someone who just knows things without knowing why or how. They tend to feel their way.
Remote viewer. Remote viewing is a disciplined approach to gaining psychic input about a specific "target". This is a scientific method full of protocols. The term was first coined by the military who trained a handful of army men to become psychic spies during the cold war.
Now keeping these terms in mind, think about your own personality. Do you learn best by watching or by listening? Do you prefer to read or listen to books on tape? Do you prefer structure or freedom? Are you often told you are too sensitive? These answers will lead you to your own strengths and that's the best place to start.
If you are often told that you are too sensitive, you are most likely intuitive. Do you often get stomach aches? Do you seem to absorb the feelings of those around you. Do you innately understand others? Intuitives need to pay attention to their feelings in order to get in touch with the subconscious messages they are receiving and learn to separate their feelings from those around them.
Do you prefer structure in your life? Remote viewing is a great place for you to start. Men tend to do well with remote viewing because of the structure and scientific nature of the process. I recommend Paul Smith or Lyn Buchanan if you are interested in this method. Contact me if you want more information. I have been a regular speaker at the Remote Viewing conference held each year in Las Vegas.
Are you highly visual? I like the rose exercise. Picture a rose with your eyes either open or closed (whichever is more natural for you). If your rose is red, then picture it turning yellow, then white, then pink etc. When you feel confident at visualizing, try faces. See your loved ones faces, then Marilyn Monroe or President Nixon. Now just for fun, picture a co-worker and then what your co-worker will be wearing tomorrow.
If you are more of a listener then practice hearing birds singing, or a train, or your own car. You are listening with your mind, rather than your ears, of course. I often "listen" to a crime scene to gain extra clues. You can also ask yourself a question and listen for the answer... you will surprise yourself. Listeners usually make good mediums.
They key to developing your own intuition is to have fun with it and not take it too seriously. Play games with yourself and enjoy the process.
Feel free to contact me your comments or questions.

Pam's Book Review
FEAR itself by Barret Schumacher is my choice this month. Barret and I may be working on a book project in the future. FEAR itself is a suspense thriller with a psychic element. It's a real page turner...
